Suggestion: Record the number of updates since last visit.

Suggestion: Ignore articles at the beginning of comic names for sorting purposes.
Admin note: Feasible. I need to look into it.

We need an alternate premade update method for comicgenesis comics that use the comicgen URL format (if anyone remembers a specific example of one of these it would be handy).

Another request: show the number of people watching a comic for updates on the list page.
Admin note: Very easy to do.

Aren't the two URL formats (comicgen.comicname.com and comicgenesis.comicname.com) completely synonymous?

In that they have the same page layout and such? Yes. But the paths associated with comic images are different, so our update detection method needs to be different.

No, I mean you can use either one for the same result. For example, Hero in Training can be found either at thereisnosaurus.comicgen.com or thereisnosaurus.comicgenesis.com.

You sure that's true for all of them?

Why wouldn't it be? I assumed it was simply defined as a synonym.

Make it so if people don't post on the forum, when they try to read comics from their list the site redirects them to furry porn instead.

Heh, I think new blood probably would be the best solution, but if anyone here knows some secret to suddenly attracting a larger audience on the internet... then why aren't you off smoking cigars made out of money or crashing Lamborghinis into each other or something as we speak?

Snark aside, what have our user activity numbers been doing lately anyway? I honestly haven't been keeping track.

This is the internet we are talking about. Most people probably won't notice.

I do my bit, whenever a webcomics thread comes up on any of the forums I post on I'll always do my duty a pimp this place.
Maybe I'll do more from now on though. If every member here puts a link to the front page in their signature for whatever forums they post on then people will notice us and numbers will climb.
I've refrained from this before as the servers where dodgy and I selfishly didn't want the site /.'d so I couldn't get to my subscriptions.
Now the hosting issues seem to be settled it'd be a good time to let more people know about us.
One issue will have to be addressed though. The article on the front page will need to change at least once per week, having a review from last december probably doesn't make us look dynamic enough for most epople to want to to stay.

All good suggestions.

- New Articles: Anyone is free to write them (with some modicum of approval). Just write them up as a forum post and I'll make it a news post. I'm not a huge comics aficionado, so I'm not sure how much help I can be here.

- The hosting issue is not totally settled, since we still get "Passenger" errors, but I'm working on getting funding to get all of my sites onto dedicated hosting.

Ok, I have a grand idea. Lets level comic-nation up to internet-magazine.
with the addition of multi-departmental articles and an organized mainpage, we could make this place more than just a subscription page and neglected forum.

This wouldn't be at all hard. We just need a volunteers who are willing to commit to the project. Lets step up from random user articles and implement a full team of writers blogging about specific areas and interests present in the user base. The interests expressed in this forum and in the genres of the comics are vast. we have everything from comics to art to video games to knitting. Lets give those interests an unified and official voice.

Again, all we need for this to work is committed individuals. I'm a writer and amateur narratologist. if given the venue I could commit to three articles a week. I'm sure we could get more on board as well. Lilmissmaya, as you know, can write competently and interestingly on the crafts of art and knitting. M_Northstar is more knowledgeable about what makes a good compelling comic than most of the other users. this is just to name a few.

As far as funding, I don't think anyone would be upset if you posted a pay pal button and a Google ad box... hell i would click the shit out of that bitch. Also, I know a girl who holds a degree in advertising with a specialization in viral marketing. She may be willing to help out--if not we can do this word of mouth style.

I'm willing to commit to this, who else is?

I'm interested, but not sure if I want to commit myself as strongly as you've described. I do need a new "hobby" though, and I need to work on my writing...

Can you throw down an hour or less a week to write about something you know and/or love?

I'm thinking articles would be pointed... 500-1,000 words max.

OK. If I see that we're getting 1-2 articles per week pretty consistently for a few weeks then I'll be willing to put in some hours to reorganize the main page more adequately.

There is a paypal donate link at the bottom of the page. I've gotten a couple of donation in the past few months, but I'll think about putting Google ads back on.
