I've discovered there are two entries for Dawn of Time, and am going to delete [Error: Comic #2723 not found!]. If you have this entry in your lists, please subscribe to Dawn of Time instead. The deletion will be implemented in one week. |

There should be something in place to do this kind of thing automatically... that is, when you delete a comic, there should be an option to specify a comic that it should be replaced with automatically on everyone's subscription list.
...I hope that makes sense? |

I believe I know what you mean, and want. You want for when a duplicate like this is deleted to be notified and given the option to subscribe to the other entry for it that has the same address.
If you mean about a mirror being lost, it may be harder to spot them, but the basic solution I can think of is mostly the same. What you need is be be able to find everyone who subscribes to a single comic and send them a notice. THAT will require some reworking as the site does not have the capacity at the moment, as far as I can tell. To find the other sites to suggest can be harder. The mirrors will be hardest. For duplicates of a site you can have some coding to spot other entries with the same address. |

I'm pretty sure a minumum of people have subscribed to the one being deleted, it was suggested pretty recently. When there's a duplicate, usually one was recently added so it's subscribers are usually limited to whoever suggested it.
It was less common on the old site only because we had to do a search for a comic after we added it and before we could actually write an update system. It was a bug that sucked a lot. |

Yes, I've thought about something like that too: a function that automatically merges the subscribers of one entry with those of another, so the first entry contains zero subscribers and can be deleted. The function would then ideally also display a notification on the My Comics pages of the displaced subscribers with the reason for the change, the next time they updated the list.
And the same or another function could even stop entries with subscribers from being deleted. |

The subscription database is literally a list of user ids and comic ids in no particular order, so it's probably a feasable thing to put on the to-do list. Just relace all instances of one comic id with the id of another. Comic deleting would remain a seperate function function from subscription changing though, as deleting lines with it's id in the subscription database is one of the things it does. |
