Can we make a list of different sites to help us track web comics? I mean, things like directories, hosts, indexes and oter tracking methods.

They can be useful for different things, and let you find even more comics, which you can add to all the areas you can, making many of them much richer for all users.

I mean, I personally use Drunk Duck, Online Comics.net, Smack Jeeves, Belfry Comic Index, Comic-Nation (of course), Buzz Webcomics, Web Comicz, Comic Genesis, Bloglines and a few more! What other sites can people think of?

All it would really need is a page for it, and an area to enter the information. No main altering to your currenty system, as far as I can tell, from the user interface, just a simple add-on.

I think you just named most of the ones I'm aware of besides the ones on The ComicSpace, LLC Network:
ComicSpace | Webcomics Nation | OnlineComics.net | TalkAboutComics | Comixpedia.org | Modern Tales | Girlamatic | Graphic Smash | Serializer.Net | Graphic Novel Review

(blatantly copied from the blurb at the bottom of any of those sites)

Keenspot (as distinct from comic genesis).

Top webcomics, webcomic planet, the webcomic list, hot webcomics, choice comics, webcomics super 100 list, comic dish, girlamatic, modern tales, graphic smash and more.

All these just between the three of us, If you made a link page for them, it would enable people to find a lot more comics they would be able to add here, if they wanted to.

I keep finding more such sites all the time.

If you write up the html - just the part in the white area, the rest is automatically put there - you might be accommodated. You could get access to the source server too if you ask nicely.

I don't know how you have things set up, but I will make up some psudo code for you, with the basics for the HTML for it. It will include the list at the end, and the suggestion box area. Where shall I send it?

If there is anything specific I should know, tell me.

Also, I'm not that interested in maintaining sites like this, as I much rather make my recommendations and use my time enjoying the comics.

I'll include a list of all the sites I can think of that would be of interest. How broad do you want the area covered? Host sites, and directories are in for sure. Bloglines is a maybe. Comic review sites?

Just make a post listing
[ url=http://example.com ]Example[ /url ]
minus the spaces. Edit the opening post even.

List hosts and directories for starters. This topic can become the actual page (hurray for not changing site code).

I can do a good design for this section, and recommend a fair number of sites, and why they should be recommended. However, since I don't know your code structure, I will simply do what I can.

About the sites, how about we get people to recommend what they can? I'll start a thread for it in the general section.

Oh, and a good design for it is a bit harder then it first seems since I had to concider different catagories.

I am also thinking that the regular comic hosts and directories would be WAY outnumbered by the porn ones.

Stuff it; work is taking up too much time for me to work on this. Just use a variation of the layout you already use for the comics.

Only real differences are you can't subscribe to them, the update URL box would be gone from the suggest box, but it WOULD ask for what type of site it is.

Basic form for the three areas

Main area:
<tr><td><a href="address" target="_blank">name</a></td>
<td><a href="info section address">Info</a></td></tr>

Info area:
<h1>Name</h1>
<h3 style="color:gray;">Site Address</h3>
<a href="address">Address</a><br>
<p>Type</p>

Suggestion area:
<p><label for="site_name">Name</label><br/>

<input id="site_name" name="site[name]" size="30" type="text" /></p>

<p><label for="site_url">Url</label><br/>
<textarea cols="100" id="site_url" name="site[url]" rows="3"></textarea></p>

<p><label for="site_type"Site type</label><br/>
<select id="site_type" name="site[type]">
<option value="no-idea">No idea/ Other</option>
<option value="host">host</option>
<option value="directory">directory/ index</option>
<option value="community">community</option></select>

<input name="commit" type="submit" value="Submit for Evaluation" />

Basically, I am just using code you already have, just slightly modified. The only reason I included type was in case you wanted to be able to divide them up that way in future. I believe in seeing these possibilities in advance, and setting up methods to use them BEFORE it becomes hard to do so.
