get the emoticons going again!

also, there should be a little BBC helper guide somewhere on the side, where people can click so a pop-up box can show them the available codes and how to use them.

It would be awesome if we could get context-sensitive tag insertion - so you could, for instance, highlight a piece of text, click a "link" button, and enter the URL to have the correct URL tags automatically inserted around the text.

I expect that's more trouble than it's really worth, but if some aspect of Rails makes it feasible it would be a nice feature.

I made you some emoticons a long time ago> you don't want to use the blue ones to match the rest of the page.

Now all we need is a EMOTICON-INSERT button. Because most people don't know all the codes for those things.

Very true. We also need a 'sticky' icon. Post-it note?

Oh, and 'open all comics...' Fuck. Need to figure out how to do that.

Why, for the love of Cthulhu, why?

Also, :O isn't doing anything in the first post.

Strike is fine, but I say nay to the blinking. I don't care how appropriate it seems, blinking text is never anything but annoying.

Hear hear.

EDIT: Hmmm... Quoted text in a box with different background color; Quotes with attributions ("So-and-so wrote:"-style); and reply button on individual posts. That's my wish list for Christmas.

Also, I haven't seen anyone else say anything about this, so am I the only one with this problem? I'm not seeing special chars like ampersands and apostrofes, I'm just getting their code, like & apos ;
I'm using IE6

I'm seeing them all fine on Firefox.

Might want to make sure the text/page is set to the correct encoding. You can change it quickly in the page properties menu I think.

Ah, so it's only me. Good to have that confirmed. None of the encodings makes a difference, but strange things like that is the least of the problems I'm having with my current computer.

I know. Isn't it. >_>;;

I didn't feel it credited a new topic anyhow, and besides, this isn't a horridly flourishing section.
