Recently Added Comics

While it wasn't the most important feature (especially with how the current system is handling added comics) but I did enjoy a small listing at the top of the page for recent comics added to the site.

I gained a lot of comics that I followed that way and I think it would be a useful feature to continue on with.

Thanks

Seconded. Maybe slightly modify that "comic of the month" feature Lucas was working on.

Every other main directory for webcomics I have come across has SOME version of it. I would like to see what is new.

How about using the suggested list? It already tells you when the newest comics are added. A slight modification there, listing the newest comics up the top would be a lot like what you want.

One problem is when people like I add over 70 comics in one night.

It doesn't display comics that have been suggested but not implemented.
I think I'll make it the default, as opposed to comics with the letter 'a', is that ok?

Oh! And how many to display before cutting the list? Most recent 50?

Implement it, and I will try to limit the comics I suggest overnight to be under that amount.
Otherwise I will drown other people out and they would never see other comics people suggest.

Looks like it's live now.

Wow! This feature ROCKS! Among other benefits, it will make it sooo much easier to subscribe to the comic you've submitted once it's implemented.

Haha, looks like nearly half of the comics in this inaugural version of the list were submitted by ME. If Corruption finds out, I won't be able to needle him about submitting too many comics... He must NEVER know DD

Don't most people subscribe right after suggesting it? That's what I do...

The stretching of the page is causing some posts to run into the blackness of the right-hand side...

Eh? You can subscribe to unimplemented comics? I didn't know that. But then again, I've been an admin for a while now, so any comics I suggest are implemented right away :P

You could subscribe as soon as you suggest a comic, but you had to go to where it was. If you suggest a comic starting with "The " you had to click on "All" click on "T" and scroll down to the one you had just suggest.

Considering all that, it's no wonder I kept some "suggest comic" tabs open, so I could submit after see if a comic was absent, and just relaod the page after.

PS, it's a bit worrying when a site admin does not know something like that about their own site.

Maybe there should be a subscribe link on each comic's info page as well as the list, to make this easier. It'll save people having to look a comic up in the list after they suggest it since, IIRC, after you suggest a comic it takes you straight to the info page.

Do you need to be logged in to suggest a comic? If so, how about automatically subscribing the suggester to it? That would also discourage folks from suggesting stuff they don't want to read.

It wouldn't be too hard to suggest, unsubscribe, suggest, unsubscribe, etc, if you wanted to suggest comments that you don't read.

Having a subscribe/unsubscribe button on each comic's individual page sounds like a very good idea.

It sounds like such a good idea that I'll put it in the SVN next time I get the chance.
